The Next Level Göktürk project, which will be located in Göktürk, Eyüp Sultan, the favorite residential area of Istanbul, required an architectural approach in which the layout scheme gained importance due to its proximity to the main transportation axes and the green texture surrounding the project. Respecting nature, taking into account topographic conditions, basic characteristics such as the type and location of vegetation, in an architectural language that responds to the land, prioritizing data such as sun direction, active winds, and within the framework of design decisions supported by the principle of functionality and the use of local building materials, the project provides a good service to the residents. Presenting “life” is the main approach of the project.
Based on our main approach, the architectural units are positioned on the land boundary line, creating a perimeter surrounding the land, and a large sheltered courtyard in the middle is presented to the people. In addition to the courtyard formation, this settlement enabled the architectural units to maximize natural light intake without intersecting each other. Socially, the idea of a community having a common square was a strong decision factor in the concept phase of the project. An opening in the middle of the courtyard, which we call "life", is positioned as the social facility of the project, and it forms the heart of the project in terms of attracting people to the center of the large courtyard, as well as the various social opportunities it contains.
When we embraced the idea of placing architectural units on the land boundary to create a perimeter, people would ask, “Is this a wall?” It was inevitable for us to assume that it would bring such questions to mind. Considering these concerns, the distance between the architectural units in this layout, pedestrian axes that cut vertically and horizontally, and most importantly, adopting a permeable design away from sharp lines in the facade designs of the units allows us to position this settlement as a " permeable wall" rather than a wall. A permeable but protective wall, in the middle of which there is life, we can compare it to a large organism.
Next Level Göktürk aims to spread this social and aesthetic understanding as it sets a different example in the region while offering a different "life" experience to its residents with all these qualities.
